Sharing Dr. Shah's admiration of J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, we code-named this project, "The Two Towers"! Our goal was to fill the large blank wall facing the kitchen, providing lots of room for curios and covered storage, while leading the eye upward to heighten the feeling of tall space afforded by the room's architecture. The design incorporates details suggested by Dr. and Mrs. Shah, including the rhythmical repeated arches and the fluting on two sides of the cabinets. As usual, the beautiful final design resulted from MapleTree-customer dialogue and iterative development of design drawings. The result: a Shah family heirloom that will be passed on for many generations, gracing the walls of many future homes!
